Marketing Intern Opening

Founded in 1994, DTE (Dance Theatre Etcetera) is a vibrant community-based, multidisciplinary arts organization located on the Red Hook, Brooklyn waterfront. DTE runs year-round arts education programs in public high schools and community programs, serving upwards of 700 students annually. DTE also produces the annual Red Hook Fest each June – a free outdoor performing arts festival that features premiere music and dance groups and youth performances – and Red Hook: Move It! a fall dance party and showcase of several dance companies’ works held in conjunction with a Red Hook Thanksgiving celebration.

DTE is seeking a part-time Marketing Intern to join our team. The position is 8 hours/week with some additional hours necessary the week of Red Hook Fest and for other events. The Marketing Intern will work closely with the Marketing Director and will learn to coordinate and potentially manage multiple communications and analytics strategies.

Primary responsibilities include:


  • Communications


      • Draft social media content
        • This will include monitoring Google Alerts, Google Trends, and social trends for weekly content
      • Update contact data in database and email subscriptions
      • Social media engagement
      • Contact Cultivation
        • This will include some cold-calling, grassroots marketing efforts, and coordinating with other volunteers and staff


  • Reporting


      • Source data
      • Assemble reporting data


  • Other


    • Document events
      • This will include taking pictures, live streaming, and posting directly to social media
    • Archive media
    • Participate in press events
    • Send press releases
    • Other tasks, as they arise


  • High School Graduate (College credit may be available to current undergraduate students)
  • Good work ethic and commitment to mission of program
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team and independently
  • Applicants must be 20 years of age or older

Experience with multidisciplinary arts, multimedia documentation, interview coverage, Final Cut Pro, and/or Adobe Premiere preferred.


  • Interns are expected to commit at least 1 day per business week (Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday) in addition to attending Red Hook Fest, June 1-2, 2018.
