Dance Theatre Etcetera seeks a part-time Volunteer Coordinator for the 25th annual Red Hook Fest
Dance Theatre Etcetera (DTE) is a dynamic community-based cultural organization located in Red Hook, Brooklyn. DTE seeks a part-time Volunteer Coordinator for the 25th anniversary of the annual Red Hook Fest. This is a free outdoor arts festival that will take place June 1st and 2nd, 2018. Friday, June 1st the Festival kicks off with a Community Cook Out and DJ Dance Party at PS 15. Saturday mainstage performances and cultural activities will take place 2 pm – 7 pm at IKEA’s Erie Basin Park. In addition to the mainstage events, our community partners will also share a health organization vehicle, a literacy vehicle, community resource tables, maritime activities, and other events. The Festival will include a Community Resource area where various cultural and educational workshops will take place that highlights the resources and services of organizations that serve Red Hook residents.
The Volunteer Coordinator will take part in pre-festival planning by attending (or teleconferencing) a production meeting with festival staff. Volunteer Coordinator will also recruit volunteers.
The ideal candidate is a Red Hook resident with a strong community network, who has strong written and verbal communication skills, who can work as part of the team and independently, and is highly organized. Prior experience in volunteer coordination is a plus.

Position starts as soon as possible.
This is a part-time position. In addition to approximately 2 weekends in May and a mid-week production meeting, the Volunteer Coordinator should attend and work festival events on June 1st and 2nd. Pay is commensurate with experience and negotiable for the right candidate.
